I hear 2 major questions whenever a brave, inspired woman is about to take the leap into the world of food freedom:
Can this help me lose weight?
Will this make me gain weight?
The simple answer is this: eating with love & intuition will help your body settle at its most ideal, happy, healthy point. For some people, this will mean gaining weight. For others, this will mean losing weight.
But more importantly, this change will happen gradually and sustainably (if at all!) over time - byeee yo-yo dieting! We don’t need you anymore!
Our physical bodies are very important, and we absolutely must take care of them. Our bodies are the one vessel we get to use to experience the wonders of life here on Earth. If you disrespect, abuse, or send hateful energy to your body, it will feel it, and so will you.
However, the shift from restrictive, obsessive, controlling eating and exercising to a loving, peaceful, easy relationship with food is not primarily about the number on the scale. The healthy increase or decrease in weight is the side dish. The main course: your mindset and your energy.
Would you rather stay where you’re at, or gain a few pounds and a whole lot of priceless memories with your friends, laughing and eating ice cream without guilt or regret?
Would you rather stay where you’re at, or gain a few pounds and an immense amount of confidence and pride?
Would you rather stay where you’re at, or gain a few pounds and finally make it through the day (or even a whole week!) without one obsessive or anxious thought about food?
Would you rather stay where you’re at, or gain a few pounds and finally feel like yourself again?
When you learn how to eat with love and intuition, your body will find its set point. You might not trust your body now, but it is way smarter than you think! Your body knows how to create a thought, which then sends an electrical signal through your nervous system, releasing neurotransmitters into a synaptic cleft, triggering a muscle to move bones so that you can use your hand to scroll down this screen. Now that’s some complex stuff!
Similarly, your body knows how to metabolize. Your body knows how to detoxify. Your body knows how to absorb nutrients. Your body knows how to eat. Your body knows how to move.
Let it do its job.
Your body is on your team. It WANTS to feel incredible. It WANTS energy. It WANTS physical, mental, and spiritual health.
And I know you want that too.
So yes, you might lose weight when you start releasing control and trusting your body.
Yes, you must gain weight when you start releasing control and trusting your body.
But no matter what the number on the scale says, the most important things that you’re losing are the anxiety, self limiting beliefs, and fears that have been holding you back for way too long. And the most important things that you’re gaining...well, you’re just going to have to try it out and experience the miraculous transformation for yourself!
